Senior Accountant

Blackfin Real Estate Investors is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. You will be responsible for corporate and project accounting for both the general contracting and investment companies. Specific responsibilities will include preparing financial statements and monthly construction draws, reconciling accounts, preparing and analyzing budgets, processing monthly distributions and coordinating tax and audit engagements.  A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and demonstrated knowledge of technical and operational accounting and finance functions are a must. 


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare internal financial statements by analyzing information from the general ledger system and department heads

  • Maintain and prepare monthly job cost reports and monthly construction draws

  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statement by maintaining and recording files

  • Prepare general ledger entries, intercompany entries, and monthly reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly revenue analysis

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly distributions for each property joint venture

  • Provide accounting support for asset management on cash flow analysis and lender’s reserve draws at property joint venture

  • Prepare payments by accruing expenses and assigning account numbers when needed

  • Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures

  • Assist Controller with year-end tax return preparation, annual audit and other special projects as assigned

  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, continued education, participating in professional organizations, etc.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience

  • Understanding of GAAP, Tax, and construction accounting and reporting

  • Experience with Quickbooks Online, Timberline and Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent analytical and research skills

  • Strict attention to detail, highly organized and efficient

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
